Strike Congestion Surcharge - Import Customer Advisory
Issue Date: September 23, 2024CaroTrans has implemented an Import Strike Congestion Surcharge, effective October 1, 2024, for LCL Imports of USD $75 w/m.
Due to the possibility of a pending strike impacting the US East Coast and Gulf Ports, CaroTrans will implement a Strike Congestion Surcharge of $75.00 w/m, should the strike go into effect. This surcharge will be applicable on all import cargo arriving at USA East Coast and Gulf Coast Ports.
CaroTrans will continue to monitor the labor situation between the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the US Maritime Alliance (USMX). We are hopeful that the strike will be avoided. The Strike Congestion Surcharge will only take place, should the Strike go into effect. Other charges such as detention, demurrage, storage, etc. would also be passed through, per the terms on the bill of lading.
Please reach out to your local CaroTrans office should your booking require an alternative or diverted routing.
